Bitter End’s Summer “Sailabration” Week Takes Family Vacationing to a Whole New Level.

June 14, 2004 -- Throughout the week, the instructional team from Sail Caribbean, an educational sail and scuba camp for teens, joins together with Bitter End Yacht Club’s world-class watersports program.

Bitter End’s certified sailing staff and Sail Caribbean’s instructors welcome younger sailors and work side-by-side with them throughout the week, teaching them the finer points of keelboat and dinghy sailing, windsurfing, tubing and other watersports. In addition, planned snorkel trips and scuba dives depart daily to select destinations that are safe and shallow enough for younger swimmers to experience the thrill of watching underwater life right along with mom and dad.

Shoreside, families are invited to compete in daily beach games, including a beach obstacle course and tug-of-war, for prizes. In the evenings, members of Bitter End’s watersports staff and guests dine together at “family-crew dinners.”

“These family-crew dinners are a highlight for the kids,” said Gordo Overing, guest activities director for Bitter End. “It’s a chance for our younger guests to hang out with the pros and have an awesome time – it’s cool and definitely an experience special to Bitter End.”

During evenings throughout the week, younger guests are invited to take “kids-only” cruises under the stars and then watch age-appropriate movies in the Sand Palace, Bitter End’s outdoor movie theater.

For the more competitive-spirited guests, the highlight of the week is the North Sound Laser Relay Rally, a point-to-point Laser rally that requires more than just sailing acumen to win the race. Teams of parents and kids race around key areas in the North Sound by sailboat, while collecting secret items on a treasure hunt along the way.

“When school’s out for summer, more families are looking for a fabulous vacation that the whole family can enjoy,” said Ross Justice, managing director of Bitter End Yacht Club. “And Summer Sailabration Week has just the right mix of sun, fun and relaxation to keep mom and dad happy, as well as the kids.”

Five times throughout the year, Bitter End teams up with Sail Caribbean for its family-themed weeks, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, President’s week, Easter and Summer Sailabration Week. There is no additional charge to participate in any of the Sail Caribbean Week’s activities; the week’s programs are included in the regular Admiral’s Family Package. Families traveling during the Summer Sailabration may also take advantage of great rates on additional rooms for other family members, and children five years old and under stay free when sharing a room with parents. Putting Your Palace To Bed

NC) —If you're a sailor, there are few things as precious as your boat. Power or sail, whatever the size, your boat is your escape, your refuge, your palace. Below are a few tips on protecting that refuge from old man winter.

Boat In the Water

Fill fuel tanks, add stabilizer.

Change engine oil and filters, always using brand name products from known marine specialists, like Castrol.

Winterize head, holding tank and fresh water system by draining or filling with non-toxic anti-freeze.

Winterize any other water using equipment.

Remove electronics, antennas and couplers. Spray and tape exposed cables.

Service cradle if necessary.

Boat On Dry Land

Lubricate or grease all systems requiring such.

Pump bilges completely dry, rinse with cleaner, empty again.

Charge batteries fully. Disconnect if leaving on boat.

Winterize engine and cooling system. Drain all water from engine block and any stern drives. Replace with storage antifreeze.

Clean fridge and/or ice box thoroughly.

Use mildewcide or anti-fungus products liberally.

Leave lockers and hatches open where possible. Leave bilge access open.

Be sure the entire boat has access to plenty of fresh air.

And if you're really gung-ho, you can do all that important exterior stuff like varnishing and washing the hull.

A wealth of interesting and valuable information on motor oils and lubricants can be found at www.castrolcanada.com or other well known petroleum web sites.

Sailing Boat Owner Addresses the "Reluctantly for Sale Due to Health Reasons" problem of the "Worn Out" Yachtsman

Graham Paris is a keen sailor with over 30 years experience on a variety of boats, sailing them, saving and renovating them. He was all set, with time available to start cruising with his young family only to find that he was cracking up health-wise.

Having seen many an ad for yachts for sale, headed, "Reluctant Sale due to Health" herealised he might be heading the same way.

Being a "mender" type and having experienced the power of available "health" products he had a lucky find in a trio of products that address the three most fundamental health problems.

The heart, the digestive system and ageing.

Here's the place to find out how to reverse your biological aging, he claims, and directs you through a "click here" link to a site full of information - and just three products!

He gives his story in an amusing and light-hearted way that makes a refresshing, yet to the point, read on his home produced web-site.

Ladies, there's a pleasing section here particularly for you, - with some high romance, for good measure.

Pat Henry, Author and Solo Circumnavigator, as a Grandmother, Opens New Sailing School in Puerto Vallarta for Women Seeking Confidence Building

PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO February 23, 2004 -- March 26, 2004, will see the first Coming About™ program participants arrive in Puerto Vallarta, on the West Coast of mainland Mexico, for an innovative, nine-day course designed to create confident, capable women captains.

The new program has been developed by a team of highly accomplished women solo sailors, with more than 300,000 open ocean miles, and is led by circumnavigator/author Pat Henry. Henry became the tenth woman in history to complete a solo voyage around the world in 1997 and received the Joshua Slocum International Society's Golden Circle Award for her accomplishment.

Course presentations are built on the group's unique experiences and insights and focused on demystifying the experience of sailing, navigating, and managing a boat---safely, confidently, and quietly. They believe success is found in passion and commitment as much as experience, according to Henry.

Direction and support for Coming About™ is being provided by Rowayton Group LLC, a private equity firm whose principals, all with strong roots in sailing, endorse values which both support and enhance the objectives of the program.

Coming About™ has been created for women who would like to bareboat charter, or who have acquired a boat they want to be able to sail on their own, or for those who are planning a short-handed offshore cruise and want the skills to feel comfortable in the face of potential full responsibility.

Operations for the program are based at the new Banderas Bay Yacht Club (Marina Vallarta)— founded in 2003 by Preston Hollander of the Rowayton Group and Alfonso Aguilar, a well-known leader in Mexican sailing circles.

The boater-friendly waters of Banderas Bay have welcomed West Coast sailors for more than fifty years. Today there are three marinas on the bay, two yacht clubs, and a fully-equipped modern boatyard. With close to 150 square miles of protected bay water, afternoon practice sessions will take place in near perfect sailing conditions under clear skies and against a backdrop of jungle covered mountains. Fifteen-knot afternoon breezes provide end-of-the-day spinnaker runs often accompanied by visiting whales--down for the winter from Alaskan waters. The final live-aboard three-day cruise takes participants to pocket beaches and small villages along the north and south shorelines.

Sailing in Style with Adventurous Wench

September 29, 2004 -- Cruising the Caribbean on a luxurious sailing yacht, stopping in small coves large cruise ships can't visit… Truly a dream vacation! What if you don't know the bow from the boom, or a jib from a jibe? What if you don't have a dozen friends to split the cost of a charter? Adventurous Wench lets everyone enjoy this fabulous way to see the islands.

Singles or couples are welcome to join a sailing week in the British Virgin Islands, on a top-of-the-line sailing catamaran that carries 10 guests in air-conditioned comfort. A captain and crew take care of all your needs, from driving the boat, to showing you the best snorkeling sites, to preparing gourmet meals. Beginning sailors can learn the ropes from a patient captain, or just sit back and leave the sailing to the experts. Experienced sailors will love this chance to sail a high-performance yacht in the Caribbean trade winds.

Adventurous Wench founder Deanna Keahey is a sailing enthusiast herself. "The British Virgin Islands are a spectacular cruising area, with secluded anchorages, colorful coral reefs, and great sailing conditions. The most intimate and exciting way to experience them is on a private yacht. There's nothing like the feeling of riding the breeze, wind in your hair, as you sail from island to island."

It's not just sailing, either. Guests can swim, snorkel, scuba dive, kayak, windsurf, water-ski, or more. Equipment is provided for a large variety of watersports, or you can opt for dry land and tour the nearest island. Not feeling energetic? Just lie in the hammock with a rum punch, listening to Caribbean tunes.

Adventurous Wench specializes in trips for women, and offers a "girls' week in the islands" November 28. For those who like traveling as a couple, there's a coed departure December 5. Keahey says "these early season departures let us pass along special savings and this great value to our guests." The 7-day trip starts and ends in Tortola, BVI. The price is $2045 per person, including yacht accommodation and transportation, all meals (prepared by the yacht's chef), open bar, and a wide variety of water sports. Scuba diving is available for additional cost.

What's next? In 2005, Adventurous Wench will be sailing through the Greek Islands. Talk about a dream vacation!

Adventurous Wench specializes in soft adventure trips for women. Guests enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking or sailing, with excellent cuisine, fine accommodations, and options so that guests can customize their own trips.
